I know that montage is series of shots to show a particular theme and not always a story. Some montages are a shot of one thing, or many things, to portray the theme rather than a story. However, sometimes montages are to advance a story, according to Brown, “Some kinds of montage advance the story but without linear continuity.” “It is not real-time continuity – it takes place over months – but we see the story develop. It’s a series of related shots, not scenes with linear continuity”(2012, p32), Cinematography theory and practise: Focal press. As in any movie, montages have a “goal: to be invisible” (Brown, 2012, p32). According to Brown, “We don’t want the audience to be aware they are a movie because this would distract them from the story” (2012, p32) Cinematography theory and practise: Focal press.  To make my montage good I would probably need to write a script so that I don’t just start shooting with no direction, according to Hyman it’s a good idea to “Jot down the bullet points and take a note of the accompanying shots that might use to illustrate my points” (2016), ‘Five steps to a Better Montage’, [Online], 16/2/2016, @ http://www.izzyvideo.com/montage/.

On the editing side, I need to know how to edit the montage so it’s not noticeable as such, according to Jordan “when you create a predictable rhythm with your edits by making each clip the exact same length, viewers will begin to anticipate cuts, which inherently distracts them from the content of the video.” (2016) ‘Here Are Some Tips & Techniques for Cutting a Compelling Video Montage’, [Online], 16/2/2016, @ http://nofilmschool.com/2014/09/larry-jordan-teaches-us-how-create-video-montage-set-music. I have also found out that when editing the piece you don’t need to cut everything in time, according to Jordan you need to “pay attention to the actions and movement within your shots. Oftentimes, a dynamic movement within the frame, when synced with the music, can have a tremendous impact on the feel of the piece, and it can make the edit feel more polished and professional.” (2016) ‘Here Are Some Tips & Techniques for Cutting a Compelling Video Montage’, [Online], 16/2/2016, @ http://nofilmschool.com/2014/09/larry-jordan-teaches-us-how-create-video-montage-set-music.

I googled the most frequent dreams people have and they are and what they mean; (N/A), (2016), ‘The 10 Most Common Dreams & What They Mean’, [Online], 16/2/2016, @ http://www.dreams.co.uk/sleep-matters-club/the-10-most-common-dreams-what-they-mean/.

This is my primary research where I asked my friend to fill out questions I asked.

From this I know that some people do have recurring dreams frequently which means that my montage will connect with a few people.
